UnitingCare Christmas AppealUnitingSA is calling on South Australians to get into the Christmas spirit and give generously to improve the lives of people in need through the UnitingCare and Target Christmas Appeal 2017.

We are collecting gifts and raising funds to improve the festive season for the one in eight people who live in poverty and who otherwise would go without at this time of year.

Toys donated will be given to local families in the lead-up to Christmas, so they can ensure their children have a gift to open on Christmas morning.

There are many ways you can get involved, including placing an unwrapped gift underneath the Christmas tree at the West Lakes and Fulham Gardens Target stores.

You can also:

  • Support the appeal through the purchase of a $1 bauble gift card at Target checkouts.
  • Host a food or toy collection at your business, social group, church or school. Call our Christmas Appeal Coordinator to get involved – 8440 2117.
  • Donate unwrapped gifts at one of our community collection sites, including at libraries across the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the City of Charles Sturt.
  • Drop toys or non-perishable food items at UnitingSA’s Emergency Relief centre at 58 Dale St, Port Adelaide, or under the Christmas tree at 70 Dale St, Port Adelaide, by December 15.
  • Make a donation online.

UnitingSA Christmas Appeal Co-ordinator Haley Roberts says all donations will help to brighten Christmas for people in need.

“No matter the size, every donation helps to bring a smile to the face of children and families who may be struggling,” Ms Roberts says.

“We are fortunate to have so many generous people in the community and by coming together, we really can make a difference in people’s lives.”

The 2016 Appeal raised more than $1.2 million and collected more than 38,000 gifts across the country, helping support 45,000 families.

It is hoped this year’s appeal will raise $1.5 million to support the services and programs delivered to people in need across the Uniting Network.

The UnitingCare and Target Christmas Appeal 2017 runs until December 24.
