What is Parent Pathways?

As a Parent Pathways provider, UnitingSA is committed to empowering parents and carers to achieve their personal, study and work goals.

Parent Pathways offers free support to parents and carers who have children aged up to 6 years old and is:

  • Flexible
  • Personalised
  • Voluntary

How can Parent Pathways help?

Your Mentor can help you with:

  • Setting education and employment goals
  • Financial support (up to $1,250 per year to cover the costs of training, text books, transport, purchase of a computer or other practical items)
  • Accessing childcare (including covering the cost of waitlist fees or bonds)
  • Creating a resume
  • Training and study opportunities
  • Finding and keeping a job
  • Transport assistance
  • Balancing work and family life
  • Referrals for other health and wellbeing support.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Parent Pathways you must:

  • be the parent or carer of a child aged under 6
  • not be in paid employment
  • live in an area where there is a Parent Pathways provider.

You also need to be getting one of these payments:

  • Parenting Payment
  • Carer Payment
  • Special benefit

You are also eligible if you’re not getting a Centrelink payment, and are either aged under 22, an early school leaver or a First Nations parent or carer.

Our team

Our qualified Mentors are:

  • Supportive of your family and personal goals
  • Passionate
  • Qualified and experienced

We will work alongside you to create a Goal Plan and provide guidance, support and advocacy – if, and when you need it.

All of our team have a current National Police and Working with Children Check.

Locations

Our offices are easy to locate and have accessible parking available. We have child-friendly spaces with toys and activities, as well as computers with free Wi-Fi access available at our permanent locations.
