We wish to inform you that a resident at Westminster Village Aged Care has tested positive for COVID-19.
The resident returned a positive Rapid Antigen Test result upon being transferred to hospital for unrelated treatment at approximately 4pm yesterday (17 February 2022). The resident remains in hospital and we are awaiting the results of a PCR test.
Residents in the affected wing (Grange) underwent Rapid Antigen Testing last night and have all returned negative results. Grange residents are scheduled to undergo PCR testing today and are being monitored for symptoms.
Staff who worked in the Grange wing yesterday also underwent Rapid Antigen Testing, with all staff returning negative results. Grange staff who were not rostered on yesterday will also undergo testing and will only return to work once a negative result has been received.
Under SA Health guidelines, the Grange wing is now considered a COVID-19 Outbreak Zone and the following precautionary measures have now been implemented:
- The Grange wing was placed into isolation at 4pm yesterday (17 February 2022), with all residents encouraged to remain in their room with meal deliveries and regular wellbeing checks.
- Only staff zoned to this wing will enter the area.
- Staff are wearing full PPE (goggles, gowns, gloves and masks).
- Booked visits are unable to occur in the Grange wing, effective immediately. This includes Partners in Care visits.
Staff and residents from other wings were not exposed to the COVID-positive resident.
Residents in unaffected areas are free to move about the site, with visits to proceed as scheduled.
Please note, this case is also unrelated to the Westminster Village staff member who tested positive on Sunday, 13 February 2022.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we respond to the current situation.
We will provide a further update once our residents’ PCR test results have been received.
