We wish to provide you with an update on the current COVID-19 situation at Westminster Village Aged Care.

This afternoon we received confirmation of a new COVID-positive case in the Grange wing. This takes our total number of positive residents to two.

Despite this additional case, we remain mindful of the need to balance the wellbeing of all Grange wing residents with measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

As we approach our second week of COVID-19 exposure at Westminster Village, we will be limiting the closure of the Grange wing to a small area incorporating the two rooms of our COVID-positive residents.

The remainder of the Grange wing will reopen to visitors at 10am tomorrow.

This will allow our Grange residents who are not impacted by COVID to reunite with their family and friends.

Meanwhile, a designated team will continue to provide comfort and care to our two COVID-positive residents who remain in quarantine. These team members will continue to wear full PPE and perform heightened
infection control practices.

All team members will continue to undertake Rapid Antigen Tests before all shifts, and we will closely monitor all residents.

PCR testing for Grange wing residents will be undertaken again tomorrow.

While we are pleased to be able to reopen the Grange wing to visitors, we remain mindful that if further COVID cases are detected we may need to reassess the situation.

We have reminded visitors of the importance of continuing to follow COVID-safe measures, including wearing a mask at all times, practicing social distancing and hand hygiene, and returning a negative Rapid Antigen Test before entry. Visitors have also been advised to continue following the below guidelines when visiting Westminster Village Aged Care:

  • A limit of two visitors per day, with a single visit of up to one hour
  • All visits must:
    • Be pre-booked via phone or email between 8.30am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Please call (08) 8353 5011 or email westminster@unitingsa.com.au.
    • Take place between 10am and 4pm daily, or 6pm and 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
    • Occur in the resident’s room

We will provide you with a further update, including outcomes of tomorrow’s PCR testing, on Friday.

If you have any questions in the interim, please speak with a member of your care team. Contact details for all of our Aged Care homes can be found on our Contact page.
