We are writing to inform you that a COVID-19 case has been detected at West Lakes Aged Care.

Yesterday (Sunday, 8 May 2022), a resident on the home’s third floor returned a positive Rapid Antigen Test.

The resident was placed into isolation in their room and is being attended to regularly by dedicated staff.

At this time, the rest of the third floor remains open to visitors.

All residents on the third floor are undertaking Rapid Antigen Testing today (Monday, 9 May 2022). As a further precaution, PCR testing will be undertaken tomorrow. Family members will be notified directly if their loved one returns a positive result.

Families and friends are also reminded that Residential Aged Care is considered a ‘Tier 1 high risk setting’ under the most recent COVID-19 close contact rules. This means if you are a close contact, you must not visit an aged care home for 14 days.

In addition, all visitors must continue to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test and produce a negative result before entering a UnitingSA aged care home, and wear a face mask at all times.

Thank you for your support as we respond to the current COVID-19 situation.

We will provide you with an update tomorrow (Tuesday, 10 May 2022).
