UnitingSA has appointed Helen Sheppard as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Helen will have oversight of UnitingSA’s community, aged care, housing and support services that help over 12,000 people each year.
Helen has a strong track record of executive leadership, a deep commitment to community service, and a passion for helping to create positive outcomes for individuals and communities.

She is currently the CEO of UnitingCare Wesley Bowden, a position she has held for the past five years. Previously she was State Manager of Mind Australia. She has also held senior and executive roles with the Australian Red Cross, SYC, RDNS SA and Anglicare SA.
“Helen is an outstanding leader with the experience, values and vision to guide UnitingSA into its next chapter,” said Gael Fraser, UnitingSA Board Chair.
“The Board was particularly impressed by Helen’s strategic leadership, her focus on social impact and her commitment to ensuring organisations remain responsive to the changing needs of communities, clients, residents, employees and stakeholders.
“We are confident she will build on UnitingSA’s strong foundations and continue to strengthen our impact across South Australia.”
Helen will commence on 9 November 2026.
