Croatian Speaking Volunteers

We are seeking people who can speak Croatian to provide support and companionship to residents.

The resident companion volunteer will liaise with the Leisure and Lifestyle Team to provide one to one support and companionship to residents from a Croatian background to maintain and enhance the emotional and social-wellbeing of residents based on their individual needs, interests and cultural backgrounds.

Locations:  Seaton

Days & Times:  Monday to Friday – 10:00 am to 4:30 pm – Centrelink requirements can be met

Duties:

  • Establish rapport with the resident through actively listening to them talk about topics of their interest
  • Initiate and lead conversation based on residents individual interests
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents as required
  • Engage in an individual activity of interest to the resident if they choose

Requirements:

Essential

  • Ability to speak and understand Croatian
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience working with older people and their individual needs
  • A knowledge and understanding of dementia

Other Requirements:

  • National Police Check
  • NDIS Clearance
  • Covid-19 vaccinations (dose 1 & 2 + booster)
