We wish to provide you with an update on the COVID-19 situation at Seaton Aged Care.

Over the weekend, a further two residents tested positive for COVID-19, along with four staff members.

The COVID-positive residents remain zoned to a particular area within the facility, while our COVID-positive staff members are isolating at home.

UnitingSA is continuing to work closely with the State and Federal Departments for Health to respond to the situation at Seaton Aged Care and implement our Phase 3 Outbreak Management Plan.

As part of our Outbreak Management Plan:

  • Seaton Aged Care remains closed to all visitors (this including Partners in Care visits)
  • Non-essential visits from external service providers are being postponed
  • Residents are encouraged to remain in their room, with meal deliveries and regular wellbeing checks
  • Staff are wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and, where possible, are being zoned to a specific area to reduce movement
  • Staff and residents are undergoing regular testing

To further reduce the risk of transmission, we have bolstered our cleaning regime. A marquee has also been erected at the front of Seaton Aged Care to enable staff to put on their PPE prior to entering. Staff are to remove their PPE after exiting the home in an external area at the rear of the building.

We wish to assure family and friends that staffing levels continue to be maintained, with care and support provided around the clock.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please find below answers to some frequently asked questions by family and friends.

Q: If my loved one undertakes a COVID-19 test, how will I know what their result is?
A: If the COVID-19 test is positive, a UnitingSA staff member will contact you directly via phone to inform you of the result as soon as possible. If you are aware your loved one has undertaken a test and you have not been contacted by a member of our team, it means their test was negative or we are still awaiting results.

Can I take my loved one out of the home?
A: SA Health has advised that residents are unable to leave their Aged Care home in the event of an outbreak, unless requiring hospital or medical care.

Q: How do I arrange a phone or video call with my loved one?
A: Please contact Seaton Aged Care on (08) 8268 7677. Due to staff remaining focused on the implementation of our Outbreak Management Plan and resident care, there may be delays in coordinating calls.

Q: Can I deliver care packages?
A: As directed by the State and Federal Departments for Health, we are limiting items bought into the home for infection control purposes. Therefore, care packages are not permitted at this time.

Please note, there will be some exceptional circumstances, such as end-of-life care, where families will be supported to visit on an individual basis. This can be arranged by calling the home on (08) 8268 7677

Thank you for your understanding as we work together with SA Health to protect the health and safety of our residents and staff.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please call Seaton Aged Care on (08) 8268 7677.
