COVID-19 continues to pose challenges across South Australia, with a new sub-variant of the virus detected in our state this week.
Health authorities have cautioned a surge in COVID-19 cases is expected over the coming month, with modelling showing a peak of about 5,000 daily cases in mid-July.
In light of this escalation, we have decided to temporarily re-introduce visitor restrictions across all UnitingSA Aged Care homes.
From tomorrow (24 June 2022), the following precautions will be in place until further notice:
- A limit of two visitors per day, with a single visit of up to one hour
- All visits must:
- Be pre-booked with your home’s reception via phone or email between 8.30am and 4pm weekdays
- Take place between 10am and 4pm daily, or 6pm to 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Occur in the resident’s room or an outdoor area
Please note, due to the high risk of community acquired infections at this time, bookings are essential.
Visitors must also continue to return a negative Rapid Antigen Test prior to visiting and complete the COVID-19 screening QR process upon arrival.
We understand visitor restrictions can be challenging for families, friends and loved ones, however we believe these precautions are necessary to protect the health and wellbeing of those in our care at this time.
We will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation in South Australia and will undertake a review of the visitor arrangements twice-weekly. We will lift the restrictions as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation – it is greatly appreciated by our teams.
