NDIS
School Leaver Employment Supports

UnitingSA provides up to 24 months of support to help high school leavers with a disability find and keep a job.

If you’re a young person living with disability, we know having a job can make all the difference. It can give you independence and financial security, and help you connect with your community and make new friends.

We also understand the transition to life after school can feel overwhelming. Through the National Disability Insurance Scheme’s School Leavers Employment Supports (SLES), we can provide tailored assistance to help you meet the challenges of moving into the workforce.

How can School Leaver Employment Supports help me?

Our School Leaver Employment Supports service will help you build practical skills and set you up for job success.

We’ll support you to work out what future employment opportunities are available and what prospects are right for you.

We’ll work one-on-one with you to explore your strengths, build your confidence and create a plan that’s tailored to your needs.

We’ll stay connected even after you begin work to make sure you’re happy and doing well in your new role.

Support may involve:

  • One-on-one coaching and mentoring
  • Identifying your skills and interests
  • Résumé preparation and interview skills training
  • Accessing work experience and volunteer opportunities
  • Connecting with a Disability Employment Services (DES) provider
  • Ongoing support when you start your job

Plus, we’ll work with your parents, carers and any other service providers you choose, to make sure you get the support that’s best for you.

Testimonials

Here’s what our participants have to say about our NDIS team:

"I am very happy with how the trip to Adelaide went (for a medical appointment) and am extremely thankful that UnitingSA and Cory were able to assist and support me to go, as I would not have gone without Cory there to support me."

"Being on the NDIS has changed my life. I’m now attending group activities each Friday. The atmosphere in the group is electrifying and I like meeting new people there. I really like my support worker and we get along really well."
