UnitingSA successfully redeveloped a group of eight modern townhouses in Adelaide’s west, providing safe, accessible and affordable community housing for people on low to moderate incomes.

Background

UnitingSA Housing purchased the town houses from Renewal SA in 2016 with no funding attached. The townhouses were in poor condition before full refurbishment and renovations.

  • Eight three-bedroom modern townhouses
  • Complete refurbishment of kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces
  • Extensive rewiring, plumbing, roof restoration and landscaping
  • Project delivered within 22 weeks from possession of the site
  • Rental prices capped at 75% of the market value
  • Adds to UnitingSA’s affordable housing options in Adelaide’s high-demand western suburbs.

Thorne Constructions received the 2018 ‘Master Builders Association, Builder Excellence Awards for Excellence in Affordable and Public Housing’ for this project.
