Card/Board Games Companion

The card/board games companion volunteer will collaborate with the Leisure and Lifestyle Team to assist in the delivery of small group games to maintain and enhance the cognitive, emotional and social-wellbeing of residents based on their individual needs, interests and cultural backgrounds.

Locations: Semaphore Park, Grange, West Lakes, Seaton, Salisbury North

Days & Times:  Monday to Friday (negotiable) – 10:00 am to 4:30 pm – Centrelink requirements can be met,

Duties:

  • Assist in the set up/pack up and preparation of games under the direction of the leisure and lifestyle team
  • Provide simple instructions to the group
  • Provide appropriate support and guidance to residents during activities to support them to participate to their full potential
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents as required
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in relations to the residents at all times
  • Communicate respectfully at all times with residents, visitors, staff and other volunteers at all times
  • Establish rapport and maintain positive relationships with residents

Requirements:

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic card and board games
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team Ability to initiate and maintain a conversation
  • Empathy towards others

Other Requirements:

  • National Police Check
  • NDIS Clearance
  • Covid-19 vaccinations
