Men’s Social Group and Companion

The men’s social group and companion volunteer will collaborate with the Leisure and Lifestyle Team to assist in the delivery of programs and activities which are designed to target the male residents including social groups and one to one support and companionship to maintain and enhance the physical, emotional and social-wellbeing of residents based on their individual needs, interests and cultural backgrounds.

Locations:  Semaphore Park, Grange, Seaton, West Lakes, Salisbury North

Days & Times:  Monday to Friday (negotiable) – 10:00 am to 3:00 pm – Centrelink requirements can be met

Duties:

  • Assist in the set up/pack up and preparation of activities under the direction of the leisure and lifestyle team
  • Provide appropriate support and guidance to residents during activities to support them to participate to their full potential
  • Establish rapport with the resident through actively listening to them talk about topics of their interest Initiate and lead conversation based on residents individual interests
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents as required
  • Engage in an individual activity of interest to the resident if they choose
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in relations to the residents at all times

Requirements:

Essential

  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to initiate and maintain a conversation
  • Empathy towards others

Other Requirements:

  • National Police Check
  • NDIS Clearance
  • Covid-19 vaccinations
