Walking Group Volunteer

The walking group support volunteer will collaborate with the Leisure and Lifestyle Team to assist in the delivery of walking groups which are designed to maintain and enhance the physical, emotional and social-wellbeing of residents.

Location:  Salisbury North

Days & Times:  Tuesday and Thursday – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm

Duties:

  • Assist in inviting and encouraging residents to join the group
  • Walk alongside residents or be able to push a wheelchair for the duration of the walk – approx. 20-30 minutes
  • Supervise the group to ensure wellbeing and safety
  • Converse with residents 1:1 or in a small group

Requirements:

Essential

  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience communicating with older people and their individual needs
  • A knowledge and understanding of dementia

Other Requirements:

  • National Police Check
  • NDIS Clearance
  • Covid-19 vaccinations (dose 1 & 2 + booster)
