UnitingSA is proud to play a role in delivering more homes for South Australians who need them most.

Today we hosted Premier Peter Malinauskas and Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Nick Champion, at Uniting on Hawker, where they announced that a record number of homes were built across South Australia in 2025.

According to ABS Building Activity Data, 13,514 were completed in South Australia last year. On top of this, 14,700 homes commenced construction in our State.

Uniting on Hawker is UnitingSA’s latest development in Bowden and it is set to deliver 30 new apartments. These apartments will become secure, long-term homes for vulnerable women aged 55 and over who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

“Every day at UnitingSA we see the human impact of the housing crisis,” says Jenny Hall.

“We see it through the increasing number of people facing homelessness, sky-rocketing demand for emergency relief, and the growing need for mental health support. Many people are at breaking point.

“That’s why it is exciting to see this record investment in building new homes.
