UnitingSA is excited to announce the opening of a brand new café located on the ground floor of our West Lakes complex at 1 Charles Street.
The Café Syndicate offers a modern, fresh and spacious interior, alfresco dining, and a diverse menu featuring breakfast and lunch options at affordable prices.
Cafe owner Salman Khan is excited to see the doors open to residents, visiting families and staff at UnitingSA West Lakes, as well as to the general public.
The Café Syndicate will be focused on providing good quality, wholesome food at affordable prices, says Salman – a passionate and experienced café owner who has operated multiple successful cafes and food venues across Adelaide.
Salman will be joined by his wife Nika, who is an experienced barista and “makes the best coffee in the world”, according to Salman.
“And I’m not just saying that because she’s my wife,” he laughs. “She really does”.
The pair have even created their own blend of coffee – two blends in fact – that will be unique to The Café Syndicate. Fresh beans in their signature house blend will also be available.
“We’ll be offering brunch and breakfast options, like eggs on toast, bacon and eggs, smashed avocado or a big breakfast, and we’ll have a bit of everything for everyone, including options for vegetarians and vegans.”
The duo will be avoiding packaged, processed and frozen foods and will be creating all menu items utilising fresh produce. The café will also boast a freshly squeezed juice bar, while a lunch menu will offer burgers, salads and sandwiches at prices that won’t break the bank.
“We aim to offer easy food, made with love and with real ingredients with great service and atmosphere,” says Salman.
“I’m really passionate about the new café. I love the location at West Lakes and the vibe of the new area.
“We are going to do things you can find in most cafés, but in our own way, with a healthy touch using quality ingredients. All at a price point where people are comfortable to visit regularly, even daily.”
The café will be open seven days a week and will trial opening times to gauge what best suits the customer base. Initially the café will be open 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am-1pm Saturday and Sunday.
“We’ll test the waters first to work out when the demand is,” Salman said.
Café Syndicate will also be offering both corporate catering options and a party food menu.
“Where we were before we were big on catering. We’ll be equipped to do various styles of menus and look forward to offering these options to neighbouring businesses and the wider community.”
UnitingSA CEO Jen Hall said the café would provide a welcome and vibrant space for the UnitingSA West Lakes community, which features 108 Residential Aged Care places, 14 premium Retirement Living apartments and a Community Aged Care hub..
“Café’s are so important for building community. Salman has done a wonderful job of fitting out the perfect space to enjoy a coffee or a meal for all our residents, families and staff. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone enjoying this great space for years to come.
