What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)?
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) can help older people with low level support needs. This entry-level support service helps you maintain your independence in your own home.
Available CHSP supports include:
- Social support (individual): we can accompany you to the shops, to attend appointments and social activities or any other outings.
- Transport: we can take you out and about in the community.
- Wellbeing and social connection groups: take part in a range of activities and connect with your community. View our current timetable here.
If you have higher level or complex care needs, our Support at Home packages may be a better option.

How do I access CHSP services?
To be eligible for CHSP, you need to be aged 65 or over (or 50 and over for First Nations people).
Here’s how to access CHSP supports:
- First, you will need to contact My Aged Care and arrange an aged care assessment.
The aged care assessment will determine your eligibility for CHSP, including specific services.
- Get in touch with UnitingSA to arrange your home care services.
